چکیده
We present the results from a multiwavelength campaign conducted in August 2006 of the powerful γ-ray quasar PKS 1510−089 (z = 0.361). This campaign commenced with a deep Suzaku observation lasting three days for a total exposure time of 120 ks, and continued with Swift monitoring over 18 days. Besides Swift observations, which sampled the optical/UV flux in all 6 UVOT filters as well as the X-ray spectrum in the 0.3−10 keV energy range, the campaign included ground-based optical and radio data, and yielded a quasi-simultaneous broad-band spectral energy distribution from 10 Hz to 10 Hz. Thanks to its low instrumental background, the Suzaku observation provided a high S/N X-ray spectrum, which is well represented by an extremely hard power-law with photon index Γ≃ 1.2, augmented by a soft component apparent below 1 keV, which is well described by a black-body model with temperature kT ≃ 0.2 keV. Monitoring by Suzaku revealed temporal variability which is different between the low and high energy bands, again suggesting the presence of a second, variable component in addition to Department of Physics, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Meguro, Tokyo, 152-8551, Japan Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, Stanford University, Stanford, CA 94305, USA Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center, Bartycka 18, 00-716, Warsaw, Poland Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pennsylvania State University, PA, 16802, USA Physics Department and Astronomical Observatory, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie, Auf dem Hügel 69, 53121 Bonn, Germany Astro Space Center of the Lebedev Physical Institute, Profsoyuznaya 84/32, Moscow, 117997, Russia Australia Telescope National Facility, CSIRO, Locked Bag 194, Narrabri NSW 2390, Australia Landessternwarte Heidelberg, Kőnigstuhl, D-69117 Heidelberg, Germany Astronomical Observatory of the Jagiellonian University, ul. Fermi large area telescope and multi-wavelength observations of the flaring activity of PKS 1510-089 between 2008 September and 2009 June
We report on the multi-wavelength observations of PKS 1510-089 (a flat spectrum radio quasar (FSRQ) at z = 0.361) during its high activity period between 2008 September and 2009 June. During this 11 month period, the source was characterized by a complex variability at optical, UV, and γ -ray bands, on timescales down to 6–12 hr. The brightest γ -ray isotropic luminosity, recorded on 2009 March...

Context. We report the detection by the AGILE satellite of a rapid γ-ray flare from the source 1AGL J1511−0908, associated with the powerful γ-ray quasar PKS 1510−089, during a pointing centered on the Galactic Center region from 1 March to 30 March 2008. This source has been continuosly monitored in the radio-to-optical bands by the GLAST-AGILE Support Program (GASP) of the Whole Earth Blazar ...
متن کاملPks 1510−089: a Head-on View of a Relativistic Jet
The gamma-ray blazar PKS 1510−089 has a highly superluminal milli-arcsecond jet at a position angle (PA) of −28 and an arcsecond jet with an initial PA of 155. With a ∆PA of 177 between the arcsecond and milliarcsecond jets, PKS 1510−089 is perhaps the most highly misaligned radio jet ever observed and serves as a graphic example of projection effects in a highly beamed relativistic jet. Here w...
متن کاملTime-dependent simulations of emission from the FSRQ PKS 1510−089: multiwavelength variability of external Compton and synchrotron self-Compton models
We present results of modelling the broad-band spectral energy distribution (SED) and multiwavelength variability of the bright flat spectrum radio quasars PKS 1510−089 with our time-dependent multizone Monte Carlo/Fokker–Planck code. As the primary source of seed photons for inverse Compton scattering, we consider radiation from the broad-line region (BLR), from the hot dust of the molecular t...

We present results of modeling the broadband SED and multiwavelength variability of the bright FSRQ PKS 1510−089 with our time-dependent multizone Monte Carlo/Fokker-Planck code (Chen et al. 2011b). As the primary source of seed photons for inverse Compton scattering, we consider radiation from the broad line region (BLR), from the hot dust of the molecular torus, and the local synchrotron radi...
